AFA Graded Items

A Peace of Mind for Buyers

Brian's Toys has made it even easier for you to view our inventory of AFA items. Just click below on the category you are interested in. You will find that all items in these categories are AFA graded.

Action Figure Authority is a third party grading company that specializes in grading action figures, toys, and collectibles. AFA was founded in 2000 with the goal of providing collectors with an objective grading scale for action figures, toys, and collectibles. Each AFA item is sealed in a tamper-proof high quality acrylic case that allows you to proudly display your toy or collectible.

Brian's Toys recommends that you strongly consider products that have been AFA graded. In particular, AFA is most often used to grade vintage items (from the 1970's and 1980's) due to their high value. If you would like items graded by AFA that are not on our website, you can contact us to request that particular ungraded items on brianstoys.com be submitted to AFA (for an extra charge). Or you can submit items directly to AFA.

Each action figure will have an overall grade, along with 3 subgrades.

The subgrades for AFA are Card, Blister, and Figure. The goal of the subgrades is to further define the condition of a particular figure. The overall grade is NOT an average of these three grades.

By using subgrade information, a collector can determine whether or not a figure's grade is borderline. This criteria will direct collectors to the part of the card that has the most damage. For example, a card that received an overall grade of 85 with a 90 Card, an 80 Blister, and a 90 Figure will show collectors that the blister has the most damage. A card that received an overall grade of 85 with an 85 Card, an 80 Blister, and an 80 Figure will show collectors that this particular piece is a low end 85.
