Brian's Toy Box

This week I am extremely excited to share with you modern Star Wars First Shot/Prototype items that we recently received in stock.  These one-of-a-kind action figures are difficult to find and do not come around often.  The fact that we received 40 prototype figures at the same time makes it all the better!  I really wish these were prototype vintage figures, but either way it is nice to have some porotype figures in stock.  Click the Brian’s Toys logo below to take a look at all of our First Shot figures in stock!

The variety of modern First Shot figures that we have in stock is extremely impressive.  The lines that we recently added of Star Wars range from the Power of the Force 2 – Original Trilogy Collection.  Not only is the variety impressive, but the AFA grades these figures received are phenomenal.  When I received the package from AFA to see that the lowest grade of the 40 First Shot figures was a 75 I was very thrilled.  AFA can be very strict on grading figures these days, considering they gave 7 of our prototypes 90s is very respectful.

There are 3 factors on how I pick my favorite First Shot figures (strictly my opinion):

  1.  Did the character have an important role in Star Wars
  2. Does it have weapons or accessories included with the figure
  3. They must have unique colors.  The crazier or wacky the colors the better!

My favorites based on the colors are the Captain Panaka, Aayla Secura, and Rebel Fleet Trooper.

All of the prototype figures are awesome in their own way and would be great additions to any collection.  Check our newsletter in the coming weeks for 55+ new vintage carded figures and more blog action!

This week I will be discussing the ESB Boba Fett 12-Inch AFA 75+ figure priced at $4,999.99.  I often feature Boba Fett items on my blog, because he is one of the more sought out characters to purchase.  This particular Boba Fett was featured on last week’s newsletter, but is worthy to discuss considering the grade.

This Boba Fett received the grade of AFA 75+ with the sub grades of B75 W80 F80 (Box 75, Window 80, Figure 80).   The box has wear, scuffs marks, and a crease on the top.  The factory tape is yellowing and the window does have a scuff mark where there seems to be some sort of paint from the figure.  You can get detailed pictures by clicking on the picture and magnifying the pictures on the listing.

The 12-Inch ESB Boba Fett has a high grade of 75+, which is extremely close to an AFA 80.  The grading company AFA (Action Figure Authority) started implementing a ‘+’ grade in their listings about 5 months ago.  AFA also grades video games and they used the plus grading system.  Since the plus grade system was so popular with video games they decided to implement it with action figures.  In my opinion this is a great move as it helps collectors identify exceptional pieces easier.

The Boba Fett comes with a bunch of fun accessories including: a rifle, a belt, plastic rocket, green cloth cape, and 2 wookie scalps.  You will not be purchasing this to enjoy the accessories though; this is a piece that must be displayed in the acrylic AFA case along with your other Boba Fett collectibles!  Out of the 12-inch ESB figures that were produced, Boba Fett is the figure that will show up on a more regular basis.  Either way this piece is difficult to get at such a high grade or even sealed.

Brian's Toy Box

This week I will be discussing the new Tri-Logo Palitoy Yoda (Orange Snake) AFA 70 that we received this week.

View Listing Here

This tri-logo Yoda was produced in 1984 and is a 70 Back-B.  The Yoda has the following subgrades: Card 75, Bubble 70, and figure 85.  Even though AFA did not claim the bubble was yellow I can see a small tint of yellow on the bubble.  The bubble received a 70 because it does have some dents, most of the dents can be seen on the top of the bubble.

The reason this piece has the premium price of $4,299.99 is the orange snake.  It is extremely rare to find a carded Tri-Logo Yoda with the orange snake.  You can commonly find the Tri-Logo Yoda with the brown snake, but the orange snake is going to make the figure much more valuable.  Not many Yoda’s with the orange snake were produced on the tri-logos.  In the 23 years Brian’s Toys has been in business I could count on one hand how many times we have had this figure in stock.  Doing a quick search on eBay there are plenty of brown snake tri-logo figures for sale but no orange snakes.

If you are serious collector this is a hard to find piece if you are trying to complete your collection.  You can e-mail sales@brianstoys.com if you have any further questions about the figure.  We also do payment plans!

Brian's Toy Box December 28th, 2016

Brian's Toy Box

It is a very sad week as we lost Carrie Fisher, the actress that played Princess Leia.  She suffered a heart attack last week on a plane and seemed to be in stable condition in the days after.  She then suffered a massive heart attack Tuesday at the age of 60 which unfortunately took her life.  The death shocked the world as she was a movie icon playing one of the most beloved princesses in the movie industry.

2016 has been a rough year taking so many great entertainers:  David Bowie, Harper Lee, Prince, Muhammad Ali, John Glenn, George Michael, and many more.  The Star Wars community has also been hit hard by losing 5 of their performers.  Carrie Fisher is the latest, but we have also lost Kenny Baker (R2-D2), Michael Leader (Stormtrooper), Drewe Henley (Red Leader), and Erik Bauersfeld (Admiral Ackbar/Bib Fortuna).

Word on the internet is that Carrie Fisher has already filmed her entire role for Star Wars Episode VIII.  There is also chatter that she has a larger role in Episode VIII, so even though we have lost a legendary actress we can get one last performance.

What I personally loved about Leia was her personality and the way she interacted with Han.  They had such a great relationship that many viewers could connect with.  The moment where Leia says “I love you” and Han says “I know” is a great scene that I will always remember from Empire Strikes Back.

May the force be with you always...

Rest in Peace

1956-2016
