The second series of Star Wars action figures produced in the late 1970’s is referred to as Star Wars 20 backs (and Star Wars 21 backs). After completing a Star Wars 12 back set, this second series is the next natural progression in vintage Star Wars toy collecting. The 8 new figures that were introduced in addition to the original 12, to now show 20 figures on the back of the card are:
- Death Star Droid
- Luke Skywalker X-Wing Pilot
- Power Droid
- Walrus Man
The last 3 ¾” Star Wars action figure produced on the Star Wars logo card was Boba Fett, who was introduced as the 21st figure thus creating the Star Wars 21 back card.
Generally the 20 back cards will have various “offers” on the front of the card, often times referring to the upcoming 21st figure as the Boba Fett with rocket firing spring action. Unfortunately, due to safety concerns, the Boba Fett figure was ultimately released without the much anticipated rocket firing mechanism. The 21 back cars are more commonly available with no offers on the front. There is generally not much of a variance in price between the 20 backs and the 21 backs.
The 9 above figures were shown in addition to the original 12 Star Wars figures below, which rounds out all 21 figures shown on the 21 back card.
- Ben Kenobi
- Darth Vader
- Death Squad Commander
- Han Solo
- Luke Skywalker
- Princess Leia
- Tusken Raider
